The endorsement of 2012 GOP Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney by who could very well be called the master of self-promotion Donald Trump, should not have been a surprise to anyone. Just the mere fact that Trump had already begun to fade from the GOP political spotlight as people tired of his twice or thrice weekly statements of how he might run as an independent, was cause for Trump to come up with something to inject himself back into the GOP political circus.
No one can forget how Trump just last year injected himself into the ongoing “Birther” movement by using his celebrity to announce he was sending people to Hawaii to search for information on Barack Obama’s birth. From NBC’s Today Show to On The Record with FOX News Greta Van Susteren, Trump boldly proclaimed that he had his own people “on the ground” in Hawaii and “you won’t believe what they have found.” Those who continue to believe that Barack Obama was born in Kenya or who believe Obama is actually the son of Muslim radical Malcolm X turned to Trump as if he was the messiah himself. Sinclair News however can report with absolute certainty that Trump never had his own people looking into Barack Obama’s Birth Certificate. Trump was obtaining his information from author of The Obama Nation Jerome Corsi and then making statements in public as if he himself had invested in researching the issue himself.
Yep, despite making repeated claims for more than a year on multiple television news programs that he had a team of investigators in Hawaii, Trump was getting ALL of his information from author & WND writer Dr. Jerome Corsi and WND CEO Joseph Farah. It really doesn’t make any difference where Trump was getting his information from, what does matter is that Trump has been using the GOP Presidential race to promote himself and his NBC Television show with his usual “carnival barker” pomp and circumstance. FOX News Greta Van Susteren (left) did the only proper and necessary thing after Trump’s carnival endorsement of GOP hopeful Mitt Romney in Las Vegas Thursday: Van Susteren asked Trump to explain how he could reconcile is past statements about Romney with endorsing Romney claiming “he is the one who can beat Obama.” As has been the norm with Donald Trump he never answered Van Susteren’s questions but instead gave his usual self important drivel about how he only got to know Romney recently, blah, blah blah….Trump may very well be a decent man and he may very well want the best for this country, but Trump has no one to blame for not taking him seriously because he never stands behind one position or statement long enough to be taken seriously. Greta demonstrated just that Thursday night On the Record.
The fact is that no one can really take a Donald Trump endorsement seriously nor can any candidate expect a Trump endorsement to result in any money or support actually resulting from an endorsement. Trump has however demonstrated very clearly the problem that the GOP and Mitt Romney both have in convincing the GOP voter that Romney is the right man to be their nominee. The mere fact that Mitt Romney even agreed to appear with Trump after having dismissed him and his NewsMax/ION TV debate idea a little more than a month earlier shows Romney still has a real problem taking a position and standing to it over time. In this case Romney flipped position in just a little more than one month.
One thing can be said about both Trump and Romney: both men seem to have a habit of touting their business success without ever having shown how it is they were to reason for their successes. Trump while never filing personal bankruptcy, he has a list of business bankruptcies where he lost other peoples money. Romney on the other had claims he has 25 years of success at Bain Capital but when asked about some of those Bain Capital successes Romney says, “I did not handle or have anything to do with those, those investment decisions were made by an investment adviser.”
One thing is for sure: as the GOP nominating process moves forward, Trump & Romney are sure to provide many on both sides of the isle a good deal of laughs and maybe even a few tears.

Malcom X didn't die in a car crash in Hawaii. He was assasinated in Manhattan's Audubon Ballroom.
